For its incredible marine fauna and flora, the presence of large cetaceans, dolphins, sperm whales, minke whales and submerged archaeological remains, the Asinara National Park is a true paradise for divers.
The island is also known for its typical albino donkeys, completely white and blue-eyed, which you can meet on the various paths in the park, as they live in herds in the wild.
There are many available activities in the park, from guided off-road excursions, to sailing and horse riding.

Attractions and interesting facts about Asinara National Park
The Fornelli prison was the first prison facility built on the island. Decommissioned in 1998, this prison was used during the Years of Lead for the imprisonment of members of the Red Brigades. At that time, maximum security cells were installed. Judges Giovanni Falcone and Paolo Borsellino stayed at Asinara.
In addition to the penitentiary, the island has an Austro-Hungarian ossuary dating back to the First World War, the Turtle Hospital and the Park's Fauna Observatory.
